Theresa Lannen has been sculpting in clay and stone for 20 years. She does her sculpting out of doors in the summer because it is a messy process. Sculpting requires the use of both sides of the brain. She finds carving easier than painting, she can get in the zone sculpting. She uses diamond dust/carbide tools such as grinders, Dremel tools, files and chisels. She studied sculpture at CCS in their continuing education program and also at the International Carving Studio of Vermont. She explained the differences between alabaster (soft) and marble (hard) and the concept of inclusions in the stone. Theresa Lannen demonstrated the use of several tools on a block of sandstone, making Belle Isle the perfect venue for this program. For more information, contact Theresa at www.LannenArt.com
