The Art Critique Techniques used by Janet Almstadt-Davison
The J. Paul Getty Foundation established the four "Steps of Art Criticism" in the 1980's and Janet uses these steps to create a comprehensive, thoughtful, and clarifying critique.
Janet will model a professional piece of art for the group using the 4 steps.
Member artists will be asked to bring one piece of their art that they would like to know more about.
As the facilitator, Janet will encourage group discussion from our members and then clarify their comments.
The artist who has done the piece is allowed to speak after everyone else has had input.
Janet will have information handouts for the artists. She is known for using humor and sensitivity about each piece of artwork.
